MFA Players Celebrate Scoring a goal

Our Under 18 players resume their South East Counties Youth Championship programme on Sunday next, 19th January, with a home game against their Bedfordshire counterparts. We hope to return to winning ways after our disappointing exit from the FA County Youth Cup. The kick off at Rectory Park is scheduled for 2pm.

This is our second match in this season’s group stages of the South East Counties competition. We were drawn in Group A this season and started with a convincing 5-2 away win against the Amateur Football Alliance in October. The last of our three group fixtures, away against Northamptonshire, is scheduled for Sunday, 16th February. Both Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire were newly elected to the competition this season.

Sussex have dominated the 5 team Group B this season, with victories against Jersey, Essex and the defending champions, Kent. They now just need a draw in their concluding group match against London on 16th February, to ensure a place in the final against the top team in our group.

This is our Under 18 side’s second match against Bedfordshire this season. We played for the Rodney Redmond Memorial Trophy at Rectory Park in September and won an entertaining match 3-1, after leading 3-0 at half time. Our goals were scored by Kevin Nyarko, Ryan Morgan and Declan Skura.

Since then Bedfordshire have recorded a 4-1 Southern Counties Championship home victory against Northamptonshire.
