    By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

    • Confidently support fun, safe and inclusive football sessions.

    • Help respond to concussion and sudden cardiac arrest emergencies as well as embed your Emergency Action Plan into your team/club.

    • Encourage participation through effective use of motivation and communication techniques.

    • Use the STEP framework to plan fun activities that meet players’ needs.

    • Understand how to use England DNA principles of positivity, ball-rolling and game-based practice to create engaging sessions.

    • Move onto The FA Level 1 in Coaching Football course - if you want to! There's no requirement to move onto our coaching pathway if it's not right for you and your role in the game.

    Frequently asked questions about getting into coaching 

    You should start with our new, free online entry-level FA Playmaker course. This is perfect for anyone interested in taking a more active role in grassroots football.

    If you have not previously attended the three hour workshop and wish to gain your qualification, then you can complete this via The FA’s Safeguarding Children workshop which will be available from April 2021.

    In the interim, we would recommend you complete the FA’s free online Safeguarding for All module via the link below.  Please note – this workshop is a basic overview of how to safeguard children and does not exempt you from taking the full workshop when it becomes available.  You can access the Safeguarding for All module here.

    This course will be delivered directly by FA Education from April 2021.  In the interim, we would recommend that all coaches look to complete the free online FA Concussion module and FA Sudden Cardiac Arrest module which can be accessed here.

    Please note – that this will not exempt you from attending the FA First Aid qualification when it is available again and you will still need to renew this qualification when it is available again.

    The provisions for this course will be controlled by The FA directly from April 2021.  Prior to this time, the County FA will not be running any further face to face sessions.
