FA Play Safe Campaign - 17th/18th September

Club Welfare Officers have been notified of the FA’s National Play Safe Campaign which is taking place on the weekend of the 17th/18th September 2022.

With just under two weeks to go until this campaign, we would encourage everyone to continue preparing their plans to observe this significant occasion and show their support to the message of the Play Safe campaign. We would love to hear from you and what you have planned for the weekend so that we can showcase and document the great work that is being implemented across our clubs, so please email through your plans and any images/videos from the weekend to safeguarding@middlesexfa.com with the subject 'Play Safe Weekend'.

A final note from all at Middlesex FA on this initiative; with children’s’ and vulnerable adult’s welfare and keeping them safe being focal in everything we do within the game, this is an opportunity to shout about the positive work that you are all doing and have embedded within your clubs and throughout the season to remind everyone that Play Safe is not a one-off campaign.

Guidance for 16/17-Year-Old Players in Open-Aged Football

Middlesex FA are continuously looking at ways to make football safer in the County through Safeguarding U18 participants. A big area of work currently is regarding 16- and 17-year-old players participating in open-aged football. In order to provide support in this area, a document is attached entitled ‘Know Your Rights’, which we’d ask for all open-aged clubs to share with their younger players ahead of the new season.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

They will also learn how to apply evidenced-based frameworks quickly and easily into their existing coaching practice.

England Football Accredited - Sign your Club up now!

Football leagues and clubs accredited by The FA have positively changed the football landscape over the last 20 years. They create the ideal environments to nurture players, coaches and volunteers. The result is greater diversity and inclusivity through football. England Football Accredited replaces The FA Charter Standard and is the next chapter in this amazing story as we unite even more communities by supporting Leagues and Clubs over the next ten years.

England Football Accredited is for all non-professional leagues and clubs. It helps them create the experiences and environments where players, coaches and volunteers can thrive. Accredited clubs are more sustainable, more resilient and built to last.

Barclays Community Football Fund, Apply Now - £500 Grants!

The Barclays Community Football Fund, which opened to the Sported network in April, is now open to all eligible football clubs and community groups across the UK.

Grants of £500 are available for groups wishing to start offering football, those keen to expand their existing provision to new audiences or those already delivering football to under-represented young people. Alongside the grants, the programme will offer training and support resources to groups to help reduce inequalities in the participation of football.

The programme’s engagement focuses on including girls and young people from lower socio-economic and under-represented groups: including racially diverse communities, people with disabilities, and people from the LGBTQ+ community. This could not have come at a better time with a sharp rise in interest among girls in football after the Euros’ win and the cost-of-living crisis making many sporting activities difficult to access.
