Middlesex FA Photographer Chris Benn turned his camera to the U12 Competitions

Last weekend, Middlesex FA photographer, Chris Benn, turned his attention to the first round of the County’s U12 competitions, specifically the matches for the Girls’ Cup and the Jim Taylor Trophy. Matches in the U12 Girls’ Cup, which attracted 18 entries were scheduled for Saturday, 12th December. Those in the Jim Taylor Trophy, which had an entry of 50 teams, were scheduled for Sunday, 13th December.

Chris chose to feature Queens Park Rangers Women U12 v Kensington Dragons Youth U12 Girls at The London Marathon Playing Fields (Saturday) and the Omonia Youth U12 Green v Bessingby Park Rangers Red U12 at The Walker Ground, Southgate (Sunday).

QPR's Francesca Smith takes on two opponents

Although both matches produced convincing winners, all four of the participating teams produced entertaining and skilful football. The competing girls and boys played the game in an excellent spirit and were a credit to their respective coaches. Everyone involved enjoyed the matches, despite the inclement weather.

Queens Park Rangers 9   Kensington Dragons 0

Naomi Bradley, the QPR captain scored first after 3 minutes. Although keeper, Abigail Bird got her hands to the ball, she could not prevent it entering the net off of the post. Naomi scored again in the 5th minute and completed her hat-trick, after cutting in from the right in the 16th minute. Two minutes later she added a 4th goal and Teighan Glynn netted her side’s 5th goal 5 minutes before the interval.

QPR introduced Janessa Abbott-Jones for the second half and she made an immediate impact, registering a hat-trick in the opening 15 minutes of the half.   QPR midfielder, Francesca Smith impressed with her trickery and exceptional ball control. Meira Ashby added the 9th QPR goal from close range, 2 minutes from time.

The other result from this competition was NPL Youth U12 Novas Girls 0   Broomwood FC (Youth) U12 Pride Girls 9
