Middlesex FA is delighted to announce the launch of tHREE brand-new affiliated Walking Football leagues across the county, which get underway in 2019.
From February, Middlesex FA will be working with partners around these leagues, which aim to give as many people across the county over the age of 50 an opportunity to continue their football journey.
The leagues, which will comprise of two divisions – Over-50s and Over-60s, will be based across two locations within Middlesex:
Our West League will be hosted at Hillingdon House Far Sports Ground, with games taking place on Sundays between 10.00am and 1.00pm
Our North League will be played at Enfield Town Football Club, with fixtures taking place on Saturdays between 12.00am and 2.00pm
Our Central League will be run on a casual basis organised by the league committee. Months, days and times will vary. All clubs will be informed of fixtures as and when organised. This league will be closed to new applications for the time being, with further information released at a later date.
The league will be a 6-a-side competition, with a maximum squad number of 9 permitted on a matchday. The FA’s new Laws of the Game for Walking Football – which can be viewed here – will be enforced in the competition.
A season will be split into two parts. The Spring League will run between March and June, whilst the Autumn League will be played between August and November. Midway through, in addition to the league, a new County Cup competition is to run centrally at Middlesex FA’s Rectory Park in July 2019, which will involve teams from both leagues.
Non-Middlesex FA teams are welcome to get involved – provided that they’re affiliated to their parent County FA.
Each team will be required to pay a one-off affiliation fee of £50, which covers affiliation to Middlesex FA, league entry and insurance.
In addition, there will be a fee of £30 to be paid monthly to cover match fees.
Lynsey Edwards, Head of Participation at Middlesex FA, said: “Walking Football has been a huge success within Middlesex. From this success, we have seen a lot of interest in developing a more competitive offering – and are delighted to work with local partners and Walking Football sessions to launch this new league.”
