Discounted defribrillators now available to clubs

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) and The Football Association (The FA) are calling on grassroots and amateur football clubs in Middlesex to help...

The BHF and The FA have already helped part-fund and place around 600 defibrillators at grassroots clubs across the country and are now inviting applications from clubs operating within the National League System, Women’s Pyramid of Football or Charter Standard Programme for a further 900 available.

Clubs will be able to apply to purchase a live AED for £318 +VAT, which is at a significantly discounted price thanks to The FA and British Heart Foundation funding the majority of the cost. Applications will be submitted through an online portal at www.footballdefibs.org. If clubs are a mixture of the three categories it is important to note that they can only apply for one device. Clubs who benefitted in phase one cannot apply.

The application process is very simple:

  1. Club makes application through the online portal
  2. The FA cross-references the Club Name and Affiliation Number in order to ensure that the Club is affiliated and has a team in the NLS, WPoF or is a Charter Standard Club
  3. The FA also check that a device was not received by the Club in Phase One and duly accepts or declines application
  4. If accepted, this creates an invoice payable in the portal created by WEL Medical, not WGS. Once the invoice is paid WEL Medical dispatch the AED and Club are emailed.
  5. The email confirms the AED familiarisation training that will be available to the Club.

AED familiarisation training

As part of the discounted live AED offer The FA would like to provide one person per successful club with free AED familiarisation training between October – December 2017. This will ensure that users are confident in effectively using the unit should they ever need to.

There are two 90 minute sessions planned within each of the eight regions across the country. Dates for this are to be confirmed.
