Middlesex FA Launch 2023 BSL Advent Calendar

Our football community have been learning new signs and signals which will be shared daily.

With the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3rd December) approaching, Middlesex FA is delighted to release its 2023 BSL Advent Calendar!

Sign languageOur football community, including players, club officials, league officials, referees and County FA staff have all participated in the calendar.

Each day, a door will reveal a new word or phrase in BSL which a member of our community has been learning using the “Sign BSL” app. The calendar will allow viewers to follow along and learn a new sign each day throughout the month.

Daniel Perkins (Inclusion Officer at Middlesex FA) said, “It has been an extremely enjoyable experience to collaborate with some of our clubs, players, coaches, referees, and officials across the county to put this together. We hope that the Advent Calendar can be a fun way to begin learning some signals, and this can encourage people to learn BSL further.”

Sign languageNatasha Cameron (Centre Manager at Rectory Park), said: “The staff team at Rectory Park have found it really useful to learn some signs and signals, which we hope will contribute to ensuring our venue is fully accessible to all. We will continue to use the app and other resources to develop our learning further.”
