MIDDLESEX UNDER 16 TEAM DEFEATS JERSEY

Jim Taylor

The Middlesex FA Under 16 players completed their programme of South East Counties Youth Championship matches on last Sunday, 2nd February, 2020 at Rectory Park, against their Jersey FA counterparts.

Unfortunately, our visitors experienced a very brief visit to Rectory Park. Their take off from Jersey was severely delayed by fog and they didn’t arrive until 2.10 pm. The game kicked off was at 2.34 pm and they had to leave almost immediately afterwards to catch their return flight from Gatwick.

Middlesex won the match by 2 goals to 1. Noah Trench put Jersey ahead in the 33rd minute. Ruben Doherty equalised 3 minutes later and Ajay Puja Pun scored the winner 5 minutes after the half time interval.

This second win from our three matches placed us at the head of the Group A table with 6 points. However, with the games featuring the Amateur Football Alliance against both London and Jersey still to be played, it is very unlikely that we will remain there, especially as we have a goal difference of -2.

At the conclusion of the match the Middlesex FA President John Davies, presented 10 of the Middlesex players (those shown below in bold type) with medals to commemorate 4 appearances for the County.
