Adrian Titcombe

The football community suffered a grievous and unexpected loss on 15th August, with the passing of the popular and much respected Adrian Titcombe.

Adrian succumbed to a heart attack, while he was on UEFA duty in Cyprus as a member of the delegation attending a Europa League qualifying match between Apollon Limassol and Austria Wien. He was 73.

He commenced his career at The FA, in their Lancaster Gate days in the early 70s. He started in the Competitions Department and progressed through the various sections, including Security, to eventually become Head of Operations. For a time he was recognisable to the football watching fraternity as the person striding out ahead of the teams before the FA Cup Finals. Adrian oversaw the organisation of Euro 96, after which he left The FA to undertake various roles for UEFA.

He joined Middlesex FA in 2002 and served mainly on the Club Status and Grounds Committee, as Secretary, the Disciplinary Committee, where his input helped to hone the procedures at personal hearings and the Administration Committee. He was also a Middlesex Class 1 referee.

Adrian was a very competent administrator and an affable personality. He will be sadly missed. Our sincere condolences are offered to his family.

Adrian's funeral will take place at Breakspear Crematorium, East Chapel, Breakspear Road, HA4 7SJ on Friday 13th September 2019, 11am. Light refreshment will be available at the Breakspear Arms, UB6 6LT. Family flowers only, any donations should be made to your charity of choice.
