Within Middlesex there is a wide variety of opportunities to play the female game. With teams playing at all levels from grassroots up to the second tier of female football there is something for every ability level. Our clubs offer female players the chance to make their first steps in the game or make the transition from the youth teams to adult teams. There are a number of leagues operating within Middlesex, these include the Greater London Womens League, The FA Women's National League and The FA Women's Super League. The Women' Football Pyramid spans 7 steps and is supported by 4 league systems that impact our clubs in Middlesex.
Greater London Womens League
This league is made up of 62 teams across 6 divisions with promotion from the Premier Division taking the successful club into London & South East Women's Regional Football League. There are currently 20 Middlesex FA teams within this league.
London & South East Women's Regional Football League
This league is made up 9 teams and promotion leads to the FA Women's National League. Middlesex currently have 1 affiliated team within this league.
FA Women's National League
The FA Women's National League is made up of 6 divisions, holding 71 teams competing in regional divisions across the country. Teams within Middlesex play in the Southern Premier Division and Division 1 South East. Any teams promoted from the Premier Division will move up to the FA Women's Championship. There are currently 3 teams affilliated to Middlesex in this league structure.
FA Women's Championship and FA Women's Super League
The highest levels of football within England, these leagues field 22 teams from all over the country, there is currently only 1 team from Middlesex playing there football at this level.

Clubs & Rep Football
There are a number of ways to get involved playing competitive football on a regular basis. The most common way is by joining a club. There are currently 40 active teams playing affiliated female football within Middlesex, these teams play at all levels of the women's football pyramid, from the FA Women's Championship (Step 2) down to the Greater London Women's Football League Division's 3 North & South (Step 7).
Clubs at all levels are always looking to offer players a chance to develop and further their careers, whether you are moving up from youth football and want to take your first steps into the game. If you want to find a new club or your first club you have a number of options.

Middlesex FA's Ladies representative team play in the Southern Counties Cup Competition in a League of 4 teams. Our opponents include Army FA, Essex FA and Hertfordshire FA. To qualify to play for the team you need to either be playing for a team affiliated to Middlesex or be born within the county.
