Hanwell Town FC unveil refurbished changing pavilion to give club further boost ahead of new season

Ahead of the 2019/20 season, Hanwell Town FC are celebrating more ground improvement works.

Ahead of the 2019/20 season, Hanwell Town FC are celebrating more ground improvement works which have been made possible by investment from the Premier League, which has been delivered by the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF).

The investment has allowed Hanwell Town FC, who play in the Isthmian League, Division One South Central at Step 4, to extend and remodel both team changing rooms and the officials’ changing rooms at the Powerday Stadium. Steve Pound, MP for Ealing North, was on hand to unveil the new facilities prior to Hanwell's 3-2 victory over an AFC Wimbledon XI.

The old home and away team changing rooms did not provide the required 18m2 of usable changing area and the electrical services, fittings and fixtures were also in poor condition. The improvements will ensure that Hanwell Town FC meet Grade D of the FA National Ground Grading Criteria to remain at Step 4.

The project was made possible by a £32,940 grant from the Premier League, which is delivered through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund – the sister organisation of the Football Foundation.

In total, Hanwell Town FC have now received eight grants from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund dating back to 2003. The value of these previous grants adds up to £171,325, taking total investment from the Premier League in the club, through the FSIF to £204,265.

Nigel Hunt, Commercial Director of Hanwell Town FC, said: “We have increased the size of all our changing rooms with the home team changing room now measuring a massive 30sq metres, which also includes separate players cubicles. We have also built two separate changing rooms for the officials, both meeting the required standards. However, none of this would have been possible without the support of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and the Premier League.”

Peter McCormick OBE, Chairman of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, said: “I’m delighted for everyone associated at Hanwell Town FC that this project has now been completed. The extension and remodelling of the club’s team and officials’ changing rooms will ensure that they can continue competing at Step 4 Level football.

“Through the FSIF, investment from the Premier League is being used to improve the infrastructure at lower levels of the game. This is being achieved through projects just like Hanwell Town FC’s development, which are improving the experiences of players and spectators all over the country.”
