Education Programmes

A number of clubs and colleges run programmes for students aged 16+ that combine education with football development. Where we have been supplied with relevant information it is included on this page, although that should not be considered an endorsement of one course over another.

AFC Hayes Academy

AFC Hayes have launched a new full time academy / education scheme for 16 to 19 year olds running from the start of the 2013/14 season. The academy is a full time Post 16 scheme that combines studying a Full Time BTEC course with football coaching, training and games in competitive leagues, cups and with professional and semi professional clubs / academies.

A maximum of 24 students will be offered the opportunity to train during the week with qualified, experienced coaches and play competitive football in the Allied Counties League, FA Youth Cup and Middlesex Cups. 

Successful applicants will receive kit, food and drink at games, transport and will study a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Leisure (equivalent to 3 A Levels) full time at the football club. The programme is based on a study programme that is delivered to scholars at full time, professional clubs. 

To apply for the academy / trials you must be currently in Year 11 or 12. The course is a full 2 year course that you can study in Post 16 (Year 12 and/or 13).

Hanworth Villa FC / Select Academy

Select Academy in partnership with Hanworth Villa FC and Goals Soccer Centres are starting a new Post 16 Academy Scheme with links to a number of professional clubs, semi professional clubs and leading universities and employers.  

They are offering places to 24 successful players / students.   Chosen candidates will join a full time programme of football coaching, games and education from September 2013.  The scheme, including the training and lessons is based at Goals, Gillette Corner from Monday to Friday, with matches played at Hanworth Villa FC. 

This is a full time post-16 education scheme where successful candidates will study a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport, the equivalent of 3 A Levels.

Trials for the scheme have been scheduled as follows:

Saturday 10th August: 11.00am - 1.00pm at Hanworth Villa FC

College of Haringey, Enfield & North East London (COHENEL) / Boreham Wood FC

COHENEL Enfield Campus, in partnership with Boreham Wood FC, are ready to accept new applicants for their successful PASE Academy Programme for 16 to 19 year olds for the coming 2013-14 season. The programme offers the opportunity to young players/learners to combine various academic subjects with quality football coaching.

The players will train during the week with UEFA qualified, experienced coaches and play competitive football in the FCYL, ECFA and SESSA Leagues. They also have the opportunity to become English College and School Internationals or gain Scholarships to play and study in the USA.

The Academy also has an exclusive partnership with professional club Reading FC, which will potentially allow the players the opportunity to progress into League football. There is a trial day on Friday 9th August at Boreham Wood FC - registration is from 10.00am.
