A SECOND HALF GOAL SPREE FOR ARMENIAN YOUTH ASSOCIATION

Jim Taylor

he third round of the Middlesex Sunday Junior Trophy was contested on Sunday last and our roving team of Chris Benn (County photographer) and Jim Taylor (reporter) decided to cover the match at Perivale Park between Perivale Panthers and Armenian Youth Association.

This was an interesting game to watch, played in a very good spirit and despite the eventual outcome, obviously enjoyed by everyone involved.   This included referee Luke Partington, who didn’t have to brandish a single card of either colour.

The first 25 minutes produced some good flowing football without much goalmouth action.

The visitors took the lead in the 26th minute through Alen Duvarciyan, who drove the ball through a crowded goalmouth, following a corner.

A spell of Armenian YA attacking followed.   Panthers’ goalkeeper, Jeevan Randhawa, made a good double save, stopping a drive from Garo Heath and then claiming the rebound.   He then turned a high shot from Andy Michael over his crossbar.   Next, Jamal Iyoyo’s shot curved narrowly wide and Garo Heath also just missed the target.

Armenian YA doubled their lead in the 44th minute.   Alen Duvarciyan hit a long ball through the middle and Garo Heath beat the keeper to it and netted.

Half time score: Perivale Panthers 0   Armenian Youth Association 2

Oddyseas Basha hits Armenian Youth Association's third goal

Oddyseas Basha applied the finishing touch for Armenian YA’s third goal in the 53rd minute, following good approach work by Jamal Iyoyo and Andy Michael, who initially hit the crossbar.

Jeevan Randhawa made a good diving save from Jamal Iyoyo but he couldn’t prevent the visitors from further extending their lead in the 58th minute.   He saved Garo Heath’s shot with his feet but the ball rebounded to Andy Michael, who netted.

Andy put the ball into the net again, from Alen Duvarciyan’s pass, 4 minutes later, but was adjudged offside.

Player 1 dispossessed an opponent to set up a Panthers’ attack but Armenian YA keeper, Mateo Aulnette saved low down from Jeyapragash Ramlcumar.

However, Panthers reduced the arrears in the 70th minute.   Pratish D’Cruz made progress along the wing and crossed for Jeyapragash to convert.

However, the visitors then piled on the goals in the last 15 minutes to achieve an incredible scoreline.

Gui Garcia heads Armenian Youth Association's fifth

Gui Garcia headed home Alen Duvarciyan’s corner in the 75th minute.

Jamal Iyoya scores Armenian Youth Association's sixth

Jamol Iyoyo, gleefully finished off some excellent team moves to hit a hat trick between the 78th and 85th minutes.

Finally, Garo Heath and Oddyseas Basha took advantage of a rapidly disintegrating home defence to add another goal each and take their side’s total to 10.

Congratulations are due to Armenian YA on a splendid performance.   The quality of their passing particularly was very good.   Commiserations to Perivale Panthers, who fought sportingly throughout against very good opponents.
