Oldstars keeper Stephen Albert saves low down

Both sides arrived at this match, after recording hefty quarter final victories, Oldstars 8-0 against Jamrock Vets and Wanderers 13-0 against West London Vets.

A flying save by Wanderers' Ed Thompson

The teams were well matched and it soon became obvious, as an entertaining game unfolded, that we were not going to get a similar goal-fest.   Both sides had chances but the first half was goalless.

Tony Fontenelle scores Wanderers' second goal

The first score came 18 minutes into the second half, when Wanderers’ Ivan Spikin smacked the ball into the roof of the Oldstars’ net.   Only two more minutes passed before Wanderers made it 2-0, when Tony Fontenelle dribbled in from the right, past two defenders to score.   The third Wanderers goal was scored with 9 minutes remaining, by Mario Noto, assisted by Mark Bentley.
