Middlesex Under-18s Prepare to Host Essex

by Jim Taylor
The county's Under-18s turn their attention to the league with a visit of Essex on Sunday 3 February.

Following their unfortunate exit from the FA County Youth Cup, the players and management of the Middlesex Under-18 squad will turn their attention to league affairs on Sunday next; 3 February.

They will entertain their Essex FA counterparts at Rectory Park in their first group match in this season’s South East Counties Youth Championship. Kick-off is scheduled for 1.00pm.

We are in Group B of the competition with Hertfordshire, the Amateur Football Alliance and Essex. Essex have already played Hertfordshire, losing at Colney Heath by a single goal. Our other two group fixtures are on 17 February, against the Amateur Football Alliance at Rectory Park, and on 17 March at Letchworth against Hertfordshire.

Group A is comprised of Kent, Jersey, Sussex and London. This group is far more advanced than ours, each team having currently played two of its three fixtures. Kent currently lead the table with two wins, while Jersey and Sussex have each won once.

The two group winners will contest the final.

Middlesex will be without defender Babjide Shittu for Sunday’s match, as a result of the red card which he received during the FA County Youth Cup match at Liverpool.
