Middlesex U18s Travel To Liverpool For County Youth Cup Tie

by Jim Taylor
Middlesex FA's Under-18 representative side travel to Merseyside for the re-arranged FA County Youth Cup tie.

As a result of their convincing 14-0 home win against Wiltshire FA in Round 2 of the competition, the Middlesex FA Under-18 players are set to travel to Liverpool for their next game in the FA County Youth Cup.

Following the postponement due to a waterlogged pitch on the date originally chosen for the match, it will now be played on Saturday 5th January 2019, at the Liverpool FA headquarters at Walton Hall Park. The kick-off is scheduled for 1.00 pm.

Liverpool FA, who beat West Riding FA 6-2 at home in Round 2, will be formidable opponents, especially on their home ground.

The last time that we played Liverpool was more than 10 years ago, on 12th January 2008, in the quarter-final of the competition. This game, which we won 3-0, was also played at Walton Hall Park. We stayed at the Suites Hotel, Prescot, on the Friday evening preceding this match. I hope that this is a good omen, as we are staying at this hotel again this year.

Unfortunately, we exited the competition in the semi-final in 2008, losing 1-4 at home to Cambridgeshire.
