QPR FC and Middlesex FA joined forces this week to run a Primary School girls tournament celebrating National Girls Football Week.
Six teams took part in the inaugural tournament at Hayes GOALS soccer centre, which is hoped will run during the Girls Football Week in future years.
Teams competing in the 6-aside tournament were winners St Swithun Wells (blues), St Swithen Wells (yellows), runners up Hillside, Coteford and Belmore (blues and whites). When not in footballing action, the girls were keen to write good luck messages on England flags for the Women’s Euro’s later this summer. The FA Skills Team were also on hand to deliver a warm up and fun coaching session to get the girls ready to jump into action.
Charlotte Edwards, Senior FDO said “the tournament shows how an NGB and a Professional Club can work closely to deliver successful projects. Players, parents, teaching staff and coaches have been superb and really supportive all day. The National Girls Football Week is a great idea, and a number of clubs in Middlesex have taken the initiative to promote their club with events throughout the week”
