Haringey Pub Football Festival

2:47 PM, Friday, 14 November 08.

The Haringey Pub Small Sided Football festival is to be held at the Frederick Knight Sports Ground in Tottenham on the Power League pitches on Thursday December 11th between 6pm and 8pm with play due to start at 6.30pm allowing for late arrivals. It will be 6-a-side, 10 minutes each way with rolling substitutes.

Held at the Frederick Knight Sports Ground, there are currently 5 pubs participating in the event who between them will field approximately 9 teams of adult male players.

The participating pubs are;

The Faltering Fullback
The Three Compasses
The Bricklayers
The Priory
The Railway Tavern
This is set to be a fun, sociable event where teams can play some football and perhaps follow that with a drink!

The festival will be the start of developing football in pubs throughout Haringey, to increase participation in regular physical activity by adult males aged 26-45yrs - This group has been identified by Sport England as a particularly dis-engaged social group in Haringey. The event will be an evening of friendly competition with awards and refreshments.

The festival and will then be followed up early in 2009 with a cup tournament, a short small sided league and another festival to further engage pubs throughout the borough with the view of developing a Haringey Wide Pub Small Sided Football League.

These events will be supported in the short term by Pro-Active North London, the London and Middlesex FA`s and Haringey Recreation Services, I am also hoping to engage the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation as this target group makes up a large proportion of the Clubs fan base.
