Good Start in FA County Youth Cup

The County’s under 18 side, which received a bye in round 1 as a result of last season’s progress to the semi-final, reached round 3 of this season’s FA County Youth Cup with a convincing win over their Essex counterparts at Billericay Town FC this afternoon.

They completely dominated the first half and had built up a three goal lead by half time. Fall Alioun scored the first in 11 minutes after good approach work by the elusive Jake Lovell. 2 minutes later Jake headed our second goal from Fall’s cross after the latter’s shot had been beaten out.

Middlesex almost went further ahead in the 15th minute when the Essex keeper saved at Daniel Wishart’s feet. We continued to have scoring chances until the 38th minute when the Essex keeper and his defence somehow kept out shots from Jake, Fall and Daniel in a frenetic goalmouth scramble.

However, Daniel scored our third in the 41st minute after good work by Jake and skipper Aryan Tajbakhsh.

The second half was much more even although Middlesex remained comfortably in control without adding to their lead. Even a triple substitution by Essex on the hour failed to disturb this dominance.

James Warrington, in goal, produced some good saves and the defence generally looked very solid. Alioun Fall went closest to scoring in the 73rd minute with a lob following a supercharged run down the left by Daniel Wishart.
