MCFA Workforce Award Winners 2009
We are pleased to announce this seasons MCFA Workforce Award Winners. A number of excellent nominations were received and after a great deal of deliberation the winners selected.
We would like to congratulate the following individuals on achieving these awards:
Open Aged Entry- Len Toulson (White City Youth)
U25 Entry- Liam Henry (Hub Athletic)
The awards recognise the hard work and commitment which the individuals have shown not only during the past year but also in preceding seasons. It was evident from the nomination forms what a difference these two individuals have made to their respective clubs.
Len Toulson has donated all of his leisure time to youth football acting as a great mentor for not only the young players of White City Youth but also coaches in the club. Len is a giving person who has represented a fine role model for the football.
Liam Henry has been a dependable player for Hub Athletic over the last few years but ever since attending a Level One Coaching Certificate has taken on a greater responsibility in helping youngsters improve as players. Every week Liam commits to developing players in training and recently went as far as India to coach to children not as fortunate as many in this country. Liam has recently taken on sessions in schools and has a fine future in the game.
The MCFA have put forward the winners for nomination at the Regional and National FA Awards. We wish them the best of luck and know from the quality of their nominations that they have a fine chance of achieving success here as well.
We would like to thank everyone who nominated individuals and clubs. The standard of entries was very high and we were impressed with all the applications. Charter Standard club AFC Wembley have been shortlisted for the club of the year prize at the Pro Active London Awards which took place at the beginning of April.
This comes just two years after being set up with the aim of developing youth football in Brent. In this time AFC Wembley have achieved the FA Charter Standard Award and run teams at a variety of age groups for more than 200 youngsters. The club have also worked hard to establish partnerships with various organisations in the surrounding area of Brent.
"To be nominated alone has been a remarkable achievement and one we could not have accomplished without the support of many other people in the borough," said club chairman Trevor Hutton.
