Forthcoming Events

Middlesex County FA are pleased to announce plans for a new project for Girls football within the county. We aim to provide a safe and fun environment for girls aged 5-8(year 2/3) to come along and participate in football at Girls only development centres. The reason we feel these centres are needed is to help girls get into club football at a young age. Each centre will help produce 2 clubs in the local area with girls to help consistently produce U10 teams in the county. The aim of the centres is to work alongside the LTPD model outlined by the FA. There have been numerous studies around the benefits of LTPD which highlights the importance of not only the technical and physical, but also the psychological and social aspects of the game.

The girls will participate in a number of sessions around fundamentals of movement, ball familiarity, along with basic techniques in a fun learning environment where decision making is a key factor, at the end of each session the girls will participate in 4-aside football (with smaller goals and pitches). This is a practice already popular in Centre’s of Excellence, with players getting even more touches on the ball and less emphasis is placed on set positions (ie everyone gets a turn in goal) in the 6 week programme.

Middlesex County FA has the frame work in place for each player to reach their full potential; each centre will have direct links to local Charter Standard clubs in the area where we will look to send the girls during there time with us.
