Middlesex & Home Counties Blind Team

A new regional-based blind football team has been established for the coming season in the South-East. The team will be led by FA qualified coaches employed by Middlesex County FA and will represent the region in the National Blind League.

As part of the Playground to Podium programme (funded externally by Sport England), The Football Association are establishing Area Blind Teams across the county by working in partnership with prominent County FAs from 2009-12.

This delivery will be a phased process and The FA has granted a team operating license to Middlesex FA from season 2009/2010 for Middlesex and the Home Counties region.

Most importantly, this development will create a local and national structure and positively impact the blind player pathway particularly as we move towards the 2012 Paralympics where blind football will be one of the Paralympic events.

There are 10 training dates and 6 fixture dates during the season. All regional Blind Teams will be expected to participate in the National Blind Football League based at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford.

The team is open to any players from:

Middlesex
Berkshire
Buckinghamshire
Essex
Hertfordshire
Kent
London
Surrey
Sussex

The team entering the league is for players aged 16 & above, however, players under 16 are eligible to take part in training with the squad so please ask.

If you would like to attend, please contact Andy Perren (Team Administrator) on 020 8515 1927 for a Player Registration Form or more information.
