Middlesex FA - developing football for everyone
Development - take your skills to the next level

The Middlesex County Football Association ran its first set of weekend league fixtures for adults and youths with disabilities and received an excellent turnout as eleven adult teams and two youth teams from across the region and beyond attended. With the tremendous support of Harrow based company Munnelly Support Services Limited in partnership with the Football Foundation and Sportsmatch the event was the start of a regular monthly competition for PAN disabled players in North West London.

With three divisions for players of varying abilities, Goals Soccer Centre in Ruislip set the scene for teams from Chelsea (2 teams), Ealing (2 teams), Enfield (2 teams), Harrow (2 teams), Tottenham, Hammersmith & Fulham Special Olypmics (2 teams), Basildon and Feltham Bees to enjoy games against each other organised by the Middlesex County Football Association.

Despite the appalling weather conditions, all the teams threw themselves into the competition, eager to gain an early advantage in the league standings and the standard of football was of a fantastic standard. It made for a thoroughly enjoyable day with all teams congregating in the bar after to discuss the goals and incidents of the previous couple of hours.

With another male adult and two youth teams due to enter the league for the set of fixtures in November, the competition promises to provide entertainment throughout the coming months and a great opportunity for all those involved. The target for the league now is to develop the female competition to complete the league’s structure.

Working to a clear strategy in partnership with the London Sports Forum for Disabled People, the Middlesex County Football Association is building a player pathway for all players with disabilities to be able to access: through the MCFA PAN Disability League there are opportunities for adult male and female players to join dedicated divisions which match their ability. Youth players will also have the chance to join the league in an U16 (four year age band) division.

This builds on the existing MCFA Special Educational Needs Schools League, offering youngsters the chance to participate regularly and the soon to begin Colleges Leagues.
