Hounslow Hawks seek a Coach
Hounslow Hawks are a club based in Hounslow for people with Mental Health issue who want to fun playing football. The club, who train at Old Isleworthians, Wood Lane, Isleworth, is now seeking for a volunteer to help assist with coaching sessions. Their numbers have grown considerably over the last few months and regularly have 20 players attend training twice a week. The players have very mixed abilities in playing and have two teams entered into the Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) League. They would like a volunteer coach to assist at training so they can break down the players in smaller groups and do more individual work with players, which is currently proving difficult to do with the number of coaches available.
Training sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Old Isleworthians, Wood Lane, Isleworth from 1pm to 3pm.
If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity or would like to apply to help, then please contact Michelle Nielsen via michelle.nielsen@wlmht.nhs.uk
London Sports Forum Coach-ability Club placement scheme
The coach-ability scheme at London Sports Forum would like your help. As the project gains more and more momentum and more coaches are created with both Level 1 and level 2 awards or working towards them, they would like your support as many of those coaches gain experience by volunteering and assisting coaches within club structures currently to improve and practice their skills they are learning throughout their courses and to offer exit routes and regular coaching opportunities. This could be a great excellent way for your club to start to become inclusive and possibly offer role models for disabled participants and your club to understand needs of disabled people to be involved. Support of your club needs to engage with this coaches can be offered through the London Sports Forum for Disabled People or partner organisations. It could be a way of increasing the number of much needed volunteer coaches, without having to pay for their qualifications.
There is further scope for anyone interested in becoming a coach or any coaches who would like to mentor disabled coaches via the Coach-ability scheme.
If you feel your club could or would like to find out more information about how to increase the number of qualified coaches, then please contact either Alex or Shaun, who are the Coach-ability development officer and project manager respectively via alex@londonsportsforum.org.uk or shaun@londonsportsforum.org.uk
