Treatment of Injury Courses

The Middlesex County FA is committed to offering opportunities to anyone to take part in our coach education programme. If you suffer from a condition that you believe may affect your involvement on a course on either the practical or theoretical elements, please notify us immediately of any support you may require and we will make every effort to ensure that you are supported throughout the course of delivery and given every opportunity to successfully attain the relevant course award.

Middlesex FA offers courses that focus on the treatment of injury, both for beginners and for those who are looking for a more advanced approach to dealing with sports injuries.

1st4Sport LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN THE TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF INJURY COURSE

This is a Level Two vocationally related qualification that provides candidates with the basic knowledge and skills to manage injuries sustained in football. Through a combination of practical and theoretical assessment, candidates will learn the fundamentals and gain invaluable ‘hands-on’ experience.

The course is open to anyone over 16 years of age acting as managers, coaches, trainers or therapists in ‘grass-roots’ or youth football clubs and for teachers with special responsibility for school teams.

Although aimed at people involved in football, the skills learnt will help anyone involved in sport, particularly contact team sports such as rugby, hockey, basketball, etc. Candidates MUST be over the age of 16 at the start of the course.

Qualification Objectives
On successful completion of the Level 2 Certificate, candidates will have a sound knowledge in:

- Basic anatomy
- Prevention of injury
- Bandaging and taping
- An introduction to basic treatment and management
- Effects, degrees and recognition
- Common injuries

Qualification: 1st4Sport Level 2 Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injury in Football

Course Fee: £140.

 

1st4Sport LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN THE TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF INJURY COURSE

This is a Level Three vocationally related qualification that provides candidates with a more in-depth understanding and experience of the anatomical aspects of a footballer's injury treatment. The knowledge gained is transferable to many field based team sports and serves as the ideal stepping stone for a career in sports therapy.

The course is open to anyone over 18 years of age with experience in providing sports therapy and holds the Level 2 Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injury.

Candidates must hold the FA Emergency Aid Course or equivalent and have attended The FA Workshop - Child Protection and Best Practice. Both courses can be taken through the Middlesex FA.

Qualification Objectives
On successful completion of the Level 3 Certificate, candidates will have a sound knowledge of the following having followed the seven units of study:

- Anatomy of the lower and upper limb
- Principles of injury
- Evaluation surface and functional anatomy
- Common football injuries to the lower and upper limb
- The treatment and management of common injuries
- Foot care
- Fitness for football

Qualification: 1st4Sport Level 3 Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injury in Football
