Football Foundation

The Football Foundation is one of the principal funders within grass roots football.  It runs a number of schemes through which your club could access funding.

Our 'Funding' section on the left provides summaries of a number of these schemes.

For more detailed information about the Football Foundation please follow the link on the right to the organisation's website.

Could £5000 be ideal for you to Grow the Game?

From 1st July 2009 the Football Foundation is launching a new funding opportunity: Grow the Game. Clubs and community groups can potentially access up to £5000. Funding is available for football which supports new activity and players taking part in the game.

The scheme is similar to its predecessor the Small Grants Scheme in its make up.The main differences are as follows:

• The grant will fund up to a maximum of £5000 worth of activity over two years.
• Applications are accepted in windows (two per year) – the first is from 1st July to 28th August 2009 (NO applications will be considered after this date).
• Applicants will find out in November whether they have been successful.
• The process to apply is straightforward and the costs easy to workout by being presented in a drop down table explaining what is available to access funding for.
• No partnership funding is required but clubs will be asked to explain how the activity will continue once funding has expired.
• The application process is entirely online.

What this means first of all is that this initial funding will be ideal for activity starting in January 2010. If you are looking to set up a mini soccer team(s) for this time the funding available here could be ideal. The Football Foundation will NOT fund retrospectively so if you were to start activity in September 2009 this would be too early to be supported by this fund.

Information about the scheme will go live from 1st July 2009. The Football Foundation website is http://www.footballfoundation.org.uk/

Clubs and community groups will need to discuss their applications with the County Football Association before it will be considered. If you would like find out more please don’t hesitate to give Steeven Sharpe, Football Development Officer (Clubs) a call or email to discuss this further: steeven.sharpe@middlesexfa.com or 020 8515 6901.

61 Middlesex Clubs utilizing over £400,000

A host of Middlesex based clubs and Community groups are currently making the most of Football Foundation funding thanks to the help of the Middlesex County Football Association to develop new football activity.
61 clubs are currently making use of grants up to £10,000 each worth a grand total of £409,584 to support various new activities develop over three year periods. In partnership with the Football Foundation, funding could also be available for your club to help develop new activity.

We are particularly keen to develop mini-soccer opportunities in youth clubs by working towards the FA’s four year strategy. This money can be put towards hiring a coach, putting volunteers and participants on coaching courses, facility hire, affiliation, promotion, publicity, recruitment events, first aid kits, travel costs and more.

Clubs can also apply for £400 worth of equipment at the same time through the Football Foundation. To find out more please contact Football Development Officer, Steeven Sharpe, by email on steeven.sharpe@middlesexfa.com or call 020 8515 6901.
