The Charter Standard Renewal process has been replaced with an Annual Health Check. Charter Standard clubs that would have had to renew their status in 2010 under the three year renewal process will no longer need to do so as they and all other FA Charter Standard clubs will be required to complete the Annual Health Check for 2010/11 and each subsequent season.
The process is currently under development to ensure the FA Charter Standard club programme runs parallel to the National Game Strategy. We will inform you of the full process when we receive full details.
For the time being we can give you an idea of the areas which will be covered:
Has your Club Constitution changed?
Has your Safeguarding Policy changed?
Has your Equality Policy changed?
If you answer yes to any of the above you will need to provide a new copy
You need a Volunteer Co-ordinator, can you name this person?
This person is responsible for the following: recruiting new volunteers, ensuring volunteers are inducted to the club, provide volunteers with a brief of their role, ensure there is a training programme for volunteers and ensure volunteers are recognised and rewarded.
Do you implement the Respect Codes of Conduct?
Have you organised a briefing meeting for managers/coaches/parents/players to promote Respect Codes of Conduct?
With which organisation do you have a link with to support the recruitment of players? (Schools, colleges etc.)
Is a first aid kit present with each team at both training and fixtures?
Has a member of your club attended at least one in-service event?
The above are requirements for FA Charter Standard.
If you are a youth club you are required to have one coach with each team who has achieved the following:
• FA CRB check
• Minimum Level One Coaching qualification
• Attended a Emergency Aid course within the last three years
• Attended a Safeguarding Children Course within the last three years
Youth clubs are required to have at least one coach within the club who has attended the Age Appropriate Coaching Module
If you are missing any of the above criteria we would like to help you achieve them. With regards the coaching criteria it is very likely that we can approve the Annual Health Check and in the meantime help you put people onto courses if you are short in any areas.
If you would like any support at all please don’t hesitate to let me know. I will help you as best I can. In the related documents is a support sheet which you are welcome to complete and return to me with the details of any areas which you would like assistance with.
