On Monday 22nd June the Middlesex County FA held its latest Charter Standard In-service Event with Regional Coach Development Manager for the FA, Geoff Pike at Parkfield Youth F.C.
Attended by over 60 coaches from Charter Standard Clubs within Middlesex the session focussed on Pre-Season Training for Youth Players. Beginning in the clubhouse Geoff presented an introduction to Pre-Season training covering drills that he would later demonstrate with the Parkfield players.
Geoff then moved the event outside where the coaches met the Parkfield U13’s players and delivered one of the training drills from the programme. The drill was watched by the group with Geoff interacting with the players and the observing coaches getting an insight into Pre-Season work.
Coaches were then encouraged to take an active role by delivering a couple of the sessions. Geoff stepped in with vital coaching points that were taken on board by the players and coaches.
The evening was concluded with a short question and answer session back in the clubhouse. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Geoff Pike and Parkfield FC, who let us use the venue along with the U13‘s who gave up their time to come along and take part.
Feedback from the session has been positive and a lot of coaches now have new ideas to take into their pre-season training!
